Monitor how much bandwidth a Xenapp Published desktop uses

We have many users across our sites using Xenapp published desktops.
My understanding was that a XenApp connection uses minimal bandwidth.

I would like to know:
1. how much bandwidth does a typical Published desktop use?
2. what can I use to test how much bandwidth it 1 published desktop session uses (from my local machine).

You can use SMC tool to check the bandwidth. Regarding your first question, bandwidth "it depends" could be the answer considering various factors about application and other things.

For more detailed information on bandwidth of xenapp and how much will be used, see the following post where you have answers from Citrix Summit ppt:

Looks like I have the bandwidth as low as I am going to get it.
Have heard a lot about WANScaler and NetScaler. Are they good options for me? Are they available for XenApp 6?

The bandwidth issue I have only applies to our Branch users (users not in the LAN where the XenApp Servers are).
Did you hear about Branch repeaters? You can use Edgesight tool if you have a platinum edition so you can discover the usage or any issues going around. Try to use Citix HDX feature policies for image, stream videos, speed screen latency and apply it to the branch users, it can alteast increase performance upto 15%.
