Hi, yes you can. WDS is only role, so you can simply hold it on 2008 whereas your DCs are 2003.
There is also WDS extension for Windows Server 2003. Let's summarize, you can simply use it on 2008 within 2003 AD network

Thanks Krzysztof
Would u run it in a live environment or would it be better  to have it in a separate lab (separate network as real environment) where u deploy machines

If you need to use it in production, I would suggest to deploy WDS as productive server. New clients will be added into domain automatically and you have everything done. There is no security risk because you need to accept new clients before image installation. The only one thing to remember is that if WDS is run on a server with DHCP role then you need to specify in scope options, option no 066 and 067 to get it working together. In case that they are separate machines, that's all :)
