SQL Express 2008 R2 - Trying to increase a database size to 10GB

Hi, does anyone have any experiance with SQL Express 2008 R2, we have a database that has just hit 4Gb in size and so I have tried to up the default limit to the new 10Gb offered by MS in the latest edition of 2008 R2. I can increase any of the System Databases but when I try to either manually create a new database or just to increase the current user database I get the Error 1827 which relates to the licensed limit of 4096 MB per database being breached.

Compatibility level is set to SQL Server 2008 (100)
The machine is service packed up to SP3 SQL Server 10.0.5500 and this is a new instance that I've just created....

Appears to be lots of joy on the web about the fact MS have increased the max size of 4GB to 10GB but has anyone actually managed to do it??

Many thanks

Looking at 10.0.5500 it sounds like you're connectedt to a 2008 edition.
Se a table here:

Could you have installed a new instance of 2008R2 but accidentally connected to the old one?

Sure you're not using FAT32?

Many thanks jonaska, you hit the nail on the head - I'd miss read the versions and it was only SQL express 2008 - Not the R2 Release

Downloaded R2 and all working perfectly again now.
