Microsoft Windows Network

All of the sudden we have a long list of workgroups/domains listed under our Microsoft Windows Network list, we have VPNs Cisco clients that connect to our network via desktop cient and web client. Also we have visitors that from time to time conneect within our offices and get ip through our DHCP. Can this scenarios be the cause of this long list of workgroups/domains under the Microsoft Windows Network windows.

Yes, both the VPN and the guest access can lead to this. I believe that using WINS causes the entries to stick around longer. If you use WINS, you can manually delete the entries from there.

FWIW, modern Windows networks generally don't use WINS, or network browsing for that matter.
