Exchange 2010 & Outlook Redirect Rule Not Working

When I create a redirect message rule either from Outlook client or Outlook Web App the messages are not redirected.

The message is received in the mailbox but does not redirect to the address in the rule.

I have confirmed it is not being filtered at the redirected recipient mailbox.

I have confirmed and reconfirmed the rule and redirected email address is correct.

When I run Exchange Troubleshoot Assistant Tracking Log Explorer I can see the message received but if I filter by "Redirected" no results are displayed.

Am I missing something on the Exchange 2010 server that allows processing of redirected mail?

Can you post more details on what information you have chosen while setting up this rule screen shots with the emails blanked out if you can? Might just be a priority problem with other rules or a conflict in the rule itself.

Thanks for the reply. Find attached the screen shots you requested. It is the only rule applied so there should be no conflicts. Seems fairly straight forward but for whatever reason the mail is received but not redirected.

It looks ok but as you said there aren't many options there.... Is there any reason you are setting up a forward via rules rather than through the options in Exchange itself?

Allow the user control of redirection.

Can you provide basic instructions where I could forward from the Exchange mailbox itself? I'm not quite clear where the setting is.

Thank you.

See if this helps - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd351134.aspx

To forward to an external email address you will need to create a new mail contact in exchange first.

Thank you. Yes these instructions worked for redirecting from Exchange.

Still it would be nice to understand why the rules in OWA won't work so the user can manage redirecting mail. I tested extensively with no success.

I tried creating a contact in OWA with the email address I wanted to redirect to and created the same rule pointing to the contact.

I tried changing the rule from  "Apply to all messages”  to “My name is in the To or CC field”

for the following reason:

Email redirect worked perfectly from Exchange Console but failed from OWA Rules.

Hmm.. does this effect other users as well or just the one? Might be worth recreating the user and migrating their mailbox and settings to the new user and see if the problem persists?

ComsycoCommented:
There is still diagnostics to do to try and resolve the problem in outlook and OWA..

AutomationOneAuthor Commented:
Okay I will test with other users and if it is isolated then I will recreate the user and migrate the mail.
