My customer, who has an SBS 2003 server, and otherwise all users read their email via Outlook client or OWA or via the mobile devices.  A new contractor wants to pull his corporate (let's say domain) into his Gmail account to read, review and utilize Gmail as he one email viewing place. (bypassing outlook client).  Forgetting how I feel about allowing a user to pull corporate emial into a personal Gmail account, I need help getting his SBS 2003/ Exch 2003 configured inside Gmail account, so that (1) he can review inbound email sent to the corporate email address and (2) when he sends replies to email piped into this Gmail account, it will have the corporate address.
Note: SBS 2003 server does not have 3rd party SSL cert applied.

Either set a rule to forward all his mail to the gmail account, allow gmail to pull his mail by POP and then set his email clients to use the exchange server to send him mail.

If you use pop be sure to tell google to leave the mail on the server.

Downside.. he will have duplicate copies of mail 1 on the exchange and 1 on the gmail system.

Hello DMTechGrooup -  Thanks for your post.  We really don't want a forward rule, as we want him to reply as the corporate address, not just read the email.  We don't currently have POP configured on this SBS server, as until this point SMTP has covered all the email needs.  Setting the Gmail client to use the Exch server to send mail was unsucessfuly thus far, and is what brought me to create this post.

I know Gmail has the option to send as per se from another domain.

Here is the help page on that :

I don't really understand why he wants this other than he likes the gmail interface.  If it is 1 person vs many than imo you just have to tell him it is not designed that way and sorry you have to use OWA.  Or move his domain to google apps if he is the only one using that domain.

I had already reviewed the info on the google mail support page, and I was looking for deeper insight. We determined to tell this one end user, sorry you  have to do it the corporate way.
