I'm going to be traveling from country to country all over the map.  With a laptop and GSM cell phone in hand.  What is the method to maintain connectivity while on the go? Satellite, GSM, Prepaid data cards, tethering, or something else?

Hi,
I would say a Satellite is the best solution, but of course the most expensieve one.
Prepaid cards for each county are also a great alternative.

Is there a universal prepaid card? Instead of purchasing one at each country?
