Can someone give me some advantages and/or disadvantage of doing that.

Do I need a copy of Office on SharePoint Server?  How does the Office license work?

If we have a full Office-SharePoint integration, does it means we need to upgrade Office for each user connecting to SharePoint to the latest Office?

By the way, what version of Sharepoint Server you have?

Sharepoint 2010.

Do you need to integrate with Office 2010?  And do you have to make sure all the users are using Office 2010 too?

Each user must have Office 2010 installed on their machine in order to use the integration.

AFAIK, Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) may not need Office 2010 installed on the client machine.

I just not sure what kind of extra benefit I get  from the integration comparing to a straight Sharepoint Foundation installation alone on permise.

In both case, my colleagues will be using the office at their desktop to edit document on the Sharepoint.

So what is the difference?  Am I missing something about the integration.

You can get the full benefits of the integration if you have Office 2010 not Office 2007 installed on user's machine. See the link below on the comparison:
