We have an excel document that when opened by a user, they get the message that the file is in use by "another user". The file is actually opened by another user but for some reason the name of the user no longer appears. This causes a delay because the employee has to call around for 10 minutes trying to find out who has the file open or I have to log into the server and check opened files which shows the user that has it open.
This has not been an issue until a couple of weeks ago. We haven't changed the format of the file nor server OS. The only thing I can think that has changed is the employees may have received critical or security updates for Excel 2007.
The file is located on a network share.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
