How to pass the SelectedIndex property of a GridView web server control

Hello Experts,

I am very new to ASP.NET and I would like to know how to pass the SelectedIndex value of a GridView web server control so I can refer to the same value on the next .aspx page. Kind of like being able to refer from the SelectedIndex value of a winform so it can be used on the current active form.

Thanks!

Gridview has a SelectedIndex property but how do you plan to use it in the other page?

Hi, CodeCruiser.

I wanted to use the SelectedIndex property as a parameter so I can get to a specific port setting.  I already have a method that retrieves the array of port objects.  I just need to get to the specific port, which was selected from the GridView, then populate the controls on the next page for editing.

Thanks again!

That would be a value within the grid then not the selectedindex right?

Here is an example
