OWA Global Address List Incomplete

I've had a new Exchange 2010 SP1 installation running strong for a few months now.  Suddenly last week I had users report that their Gloabl Address List via Outlook Web App was incomplete.  After exploring various reports I confirmed the occurance several times.  I regenerated the list and the problem disappeared for about an hour but then reappeared.  I need something definitive to track this issue down.  Suggestions?

Hi,

Have a look at my article: Manually Update Global Address List (GAL) on Exchange 2010
URL: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/A_8392-Manually-Update-Global-Address-List-GAL-on-Exchange-2010.html

Hope this helps!!!

I am sure, the exchange server has some trouble in communicating global catalog server, check the connectivity between them, for this you can also setup network monitoing.
fix the connectivity issue and update the gal manually by below command

Update-GlobalAddressList -Identity "Global Address List" -DomainController "YourDomainControllerName"

Thanks for the response.  The GAL update works without error, but only fixed the problem for an hour each time, then the problem would return.  The edge, CAS and both domain controllers can see each other just fine.  The Windows application event logs are without related error.  Any ideas where I can look next?

Do a network trace, dcdiag /v, dcdiag /test:dns, run health check on exchange and post the results.

Is you edge in sync? Try running the following:

Start-EdgeSynchronization -ForceFullSync

HoneyFarmsAuthor Commented:
I did the force full sync and still have the same issue.  Here's the dcdiag /v from each domain controller and then replication health from the CAS.  My server 2008 standard sp2 DC doesn't show dcdiag /test:DNS as a vaild test.

Try setting the Update schedule on your Default Offline Address Book to update every hour by doing the following:

1. Open EMC and browse to Organizational Configurations > Mailbox
2. Select Offline Address Book tab
3. Right click your Default Offline Address Book and click on properies
4. On the General tab in the Update Schedule drop down list select Use Custom Schedule
5. Now click on the Customize Button and set it to update every hour or so by highlighting the full row from top to bottom.
6. Click OK > OK

Hope this helps!!

I wanted to give this a few days before answering to verify the results, but the hourly update of the OAB is not changing the symptom.

Have you tried installing the latest exchange rollup? If not please download and install Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (KB2582113)

Hope this helps!!!

WIthout additional feedback from the posted material I placed my hopes in  that an SP2 upgrade across the Exchange infrastructure would resolve the issue, which it did.
