problem with windows 7 search

I have win 7 64 pro. I have a folder with jpeg files in it. I am trying to do a search within the folder. Whenever I type any character, one contained within the file names, a wildcard, anything at all in the upper right search box, it immediately defaults to "no items match your search". When I try a search in folders iwth other file types, it works fine. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

In the start menu, type Folder Options, go to the Search Tab, and check the second checkbox... see if that helps....
