Copy data and graphics from one spreadsheet to another

Hi,

I think I am missing something.

I am trying to copy the contents from one spreadsheet into a tab in another spreadsheet.

The contents consists of text, formulas and graphics .  When I copy the contents, none of the graphics copy across.

Any suggestions much appreciated

How about copying the whole spreadsheet into another. See link below:

Hi,

Tried this, but it does not copy accross the graphics that was added to the spreadsheet, like rectangular colored boxes, arrows etc etc

Eddie
Hi
Normally when you copy cells all of the graphics will be copied too.  Any graphic on an Excel sheet is attached to a cell, and will come across when that cell is copied.  However there is an option setting that turns off this behaviour - in Excel 2007 it's Excel options...Advanced...Cut, copy and paste...Cut copy and sort inserted objects with their parent cells.

I don't have 2003 or earler to find it thete, but it will be under Tools...Options somewhere.

Hot fixes and office updates would help mostly with this kind of scenario.
I will suggest to install hotfix and updates into your Excel application.

Ed
Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  That option is ticked. I select all on the spreadsheet, go to a new tab in another spreadsheet, paste, specilal functions, all and only the cell data gets pasted

Sample
test.xls
It worked fine in my machine. I can copy the worksheet and all the contents are there.
You might need to check for updates.

Try to save the file and then close Excel and open it again. Or you may try to restart your machine as well.

Hi,

I am using Xp and office 2007.

Just doing an update check now.

Hi,

I have posted here a cut down version of the main file.

I tested the sample file and it works, but the main file fails.

Will have another go

As I said, I can replicate your original problem when I use Paste Special... All, and no graphics come across.  When I use straight Paste, I get everything. I also have Excel 2007.

You want to use paste special, either K Keep source formating or W Keep source column widths.
Not worked fully with what I am doing on my confidential spreadsheet, but it did steer me into the correct direction
