iPhone won't start paste apple screen

iPhone 3G (not 3GS)
I've dropped my phone and now it won't start past the apple screen.
I've tried starting it in safety mode and restoring it, still no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Is it likely to be a problem with the motherboard?

Maybe try a hard reset but if it failed after been dropped it does seem likely that it has caused a hardware fault that is unlikely to be fixed by anything we could do.. Maybe try your luck with applecare and see if they will help you?

Info on Hard reset - http://www.wikihow.com/Hard-Reset-an-iPhone
Try connecting the iPhone to a power cable and doing a hard reset (holding the home button and the lock  button simultaneously) Hold it for about 2 minutes and you should see a white apple logo.

You can also try to reset the iphone if itunes is able to detect it.
