    Assisted Solution

Definately agree with irweazelwallis.  It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.  Questions which are normally asked include:

    How many users?
Is this for internal users, external users or both?
What services do you want to run (IM, Web conferencing, Group Chat, Enterprise Voice, Monitoring and Archiving)? Note... this will also affect CALS
Is this a Virtual or Physical server setup?
    How technical are you?

I definately think consultants are great, there are also some other good resources.  I have a book called Lync Server 2010 unleashed that has helped me tremendously.
