Backup Error

We use Computer Associates CA 12.0 for our backup solution. Recently I have been getting this error on my Exchange backups:

"AE9684 - Exchange Server Error. HrESEBackupSetup failed. Mount the databases before backup. Check Backup Agent Activity Log"

The databases that are backed up are mounted. When I look at the Backup Agent Activity log I see nothing there that points to a problem

There is no CA 12.0... are we talking about Arcserve? Have you tried giving your error code to their support to see if they can be more specific about what might be causing their software to generate this error?

Any events in the event log related to exchange or from CA?

    Accepted Solution

The issue was fixed after the exchange server was restarted.
