Logitech C310 Webcam very choppy and green and purple when video calling on Skype

A new Logitech C310 webcam is very choppy and half green and purple when trying to video conference through Skype.  This is on a XP machine.  The camera feed is fine until you connect on Skype.  Skype is the latest addition.

Also note, that rolling back a version of skype solved this problem for others online. Good Luck
