Autodiscover on legacy 2007 exchange server

I can't get Autodiscover to work externally on my exchange 2007 server.  Seems to work fine internally for outlook setups.

I've been across the board on this one, so I'm just going to explain my scenario and let you guys drive.

I have an Exchange 2007 in essentially a stand alone config.  Internal Autodiscover seems to work when setting up new outlook profiles.  Externally it does not work.  I have multiple SMTP namespaces configured, so I am using SRV records on domains to direct autodiscover traffic to my CAS.  The SRV direction works, and points clients to the correct server, but autodiscover does not work.  I always get the following when attempting to test (www.testexchangeconnectivity.com)

Attempting to send an Autodiscover POST request to potential Autodiscover URLs.
Autodiscover settings weren't obtained when the Autodiscover POST request was sent.

      Test Steps

ExRCA is attempting to retrieve an XML Autodiscover response from URL https://CORRECT.MAILSERVER.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml for user CORRECTUSER@REMOTEDOMAIN.com.
ExRCA failed to obtain an Autodiscover XML response.

      Additional Details
None of the expected XML elements were found in the XML response.

OWA and Outlook Anywhere work fine, but I cannot get remote outlook / phones to autodiscover correctly.

There are other mailservers, both 03 and 2010, but I just want to focus on getting autodiscover to work on the 2007 server for users whose mailboxes are on it.

Do you have an autodiscover DNS entry for the Outside world?

Not for the domain I am working with, no.  I have an SRV record that points to the mailserver I want them to use for autodiscover.

Oh my.

It would seem that the issue was with the email address on my test user.  Autodiscover is actually working pretty well.

Had I not made assumptions, I would have saved myself a could of days.  Whoops.
