Excel - Assign range names to adjacent cells in a single operation

Can each name in a list of names in one column be assigned as range names to the cell adjacent to each name in one action similar to the Range/Label/Right command in Lotus 1-2-3?  Thanks

Yes.  Highlight your two columns and the rows then select Formulas > Create from Selection in the "Defined Names" ribbon group.

"Left row"should already be selected for you (select it if not).

There you have it.

If you are not using 2007 or 2010, the menu items would be:

Insert > Name > Create
