Hello,

I'm having an issue on my domain controller. I am trying to create a mailbox for a user, but everytime I try I get the following error. The weird thing is I have searched AD from front to back and cannot find any record of the account that is said to already be existing. No existing email accounts or user aliases have been found that match, so I'm stumped on what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated. And thanks in advance for your assistance.

The pre windows 2000 login name is the short name used by your new user. I suspect this does already exist in your organisation so choose something new. It's unlikely to be a problem with AD

Sorry for the delay, but thank you both for your assistance. I found that although there was no "marketing@XYZ.com" email address, I did find that there was a pre-existing "Marketing" security group, which I believe was the cause of my problem. So You both were correct. I have done a workaround by slightly altering the alias of the new DL so we're good to go now. Thanks again!
