Sharepoint

I have a series of documents in a sharepoint library.  that i would like to link togther

E.G. I have 200 docs that tell you how to do something
I have 200 cover notes with Refrence numbers etc
I have 200 Project plans

I could just use a key filed in each, but ideally the HOW TO docs should be useable by any project,

SO the ideal  I want to all docs relating to Project 4   including HOWTO's that dont have Project 4 mentioned in any of there filed.  any options? hyperlink?

Hello,

it's not quite clear what you mean by "link the documents together".

You could create a column for "Category" or some such and specify the value for each document, e.g. Project A, Project B, How to, etc.

Then you could build a view for each project that includes all documents for a project and all How to documents, using a filter with Category = "Project X" and adding a second filter linked with OR for Category = "How to".

linking to gether =  when we do a project there will be several docs used.  Im using a field "project code"  and tehn group by "project code " on a purpose built "view"

all well and good.

but there are a lot of generic documents that should be part of project bundle of docs,

how do i get these associated with Project A    considering  it will probably be associated with 200 other projects as well.

was thinking of  alink to doc, but not sure how to associate that with  "project"

This is not out of the box functionality. At the least, it would involve SharePoint Designer and a DataViewWebPart instead of a list view.

I don't have access to SharePoint Designer over the weekend, but will try out some stuff as soon as I'm back in the office.

im nearly there, although not quite

new List View
New colum | lookup
so in teh list i choose new item and give a title of Project A then pick and choose docs to add.

all works in the spirit of what i wanted, but the vie wis dissapointing, just shows one filed  and all docs chosen within that field   eg, document1 document2 document3  each is a working hyperlink  but ideally would also want the value of Doc type from the originating doc library
