Windows 7 will not reconnect to dsl after hybernating

I have a computer that is running Win 7 Home Premium on DSL.  It runs fine until it goes into hybernation.  Once it hybernates and you hit the space bar to bring it back, the connection to the interent will not work and it asks if you want to run diagnostics, of which it ends up saying it cannot find the issue.   There is a laptop using the same DSL via wireless and it runs Win 7 and it has no issuse reconnecting.  I took this computer back to my office where I use cable.  It did the same thing until I went into adapter settings and switched "Speed and Duplex" to 100MBS instead of auto negotiate, then on the cable it worked when it came back from hybernate.  Unfortunately it is still not connecting from hybernation on the DSL.  I still believe it is the DSL that is the problem.  Any ideas?

The modem is a 2 Wire.
I understand it's a 2 wire modem because DSL is using the analog 2 wire telephone line.

What I meant to ask is what brand/type you have and possibly your ISP so we can lookup some more details and give you a better advice.
I remoted into the users computer to check the adapter, and the box saying "Allow computer to shut this device to save power was unchecked already.

As for the brand of the 2-wire I will find that out tomorrow.   BUt the ISP is AT&T.

Also the user said that this evening when I called to remote into his computer, he did not have the issue even though his computer was coming out of hybernation after sitting for about 3 hours..
The next time this happens, run an ipconfig /all to see if it has an ip address. I know you cannot do this remotely but you can walk the customer through the process.

The brand IS 2Wire. Guessing UVerse for ATT?
johnb6767 - 2Wire can also be dsl, depending on the feed.
:D 2Wire is the name of the modem... Is it this one maybe: AT&T 2Wire
No it is DSL  for AT&T.   BUt it is still happening and I brought it back to my office that runs on cable and it is doing the same thing here now.  WHen I bring it up form hibernation it has a yellow exclamation point on the internet icon in the lower right corner and will not connect.
There's some hints here, maybe one of them will work for you. I'm running out of ideas...
I tried all your suggestions, thanks, but the way I got it to work was to put a new network card in and disable the one they were using off the motherboard
Thanks again
