Is there a way I can put a shortcut on someones desktop that will launch an app in Xp thats running through VMWare player?  We have this scanning app thats due to be replaced in a year or so, but it only runs under windows xp, and won't run correctly with MS's virtual XP software. I'd like for the user to click the icon have the XP VM fire up and launch that app.  Any ideas would be helpful.

You could use the Unity Function of VMware Player 4.0.

Thanks!  That works!  Now is there anyway I could get the VM to use the same credentials as the host machine that the user is logging into?

Or I should say rather, pass through authentication?

No pass through authentication I'm afraid. You would need Citrix or 2X for that, you could try 2X, if you register you can get a three user license for free, of 2X Application Server (http://www.2x.com/applicationserver/)

Well it's a few extra steps but I guess our users will just have to live with it until we can replace it.  Thanks for your help.
