Test physical drives on VM host

We are using ESXi 4.0 on a remote host 200 miles away and we have reason to think a drive may be going bad. Other than having someone go in a check for amber lights, is there any way to get a diagnostic report or test the physical drives on the VM host while keeping the VMs live?

You can use vSphere client and go to the Configuration tab.  You'll see status for just about every device in the system there.  Recently we had a problem with the raid controller battery and it complained about it nonstop until we replaced it.

If you have Veam you can also check in there.

only if, you've have supported hardware and OEM version of ESXi. (and sometimes it does not show hardware has failed!).
