Email to site

I routinely get forwards via email that I would like to make a post out of on my website by simply forwarding the email to my site.  The post would take on the title used in the email, and if it has an embedded picture, then the picture(s) would need to show up also.

How can I do this in Wordpress?  Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Under Settings | Writing you can enable a Post by Email address for your site.  However, you need to be careful as WordPress only supports plain text, so all formatting will be lost and no images will work.

If you need more advanced functionality with post by email, you'll need to use Postie:

That seemed like a really good option.  I installed it via the back-end of Wordpress and then lost access to the dashboard.  Strange.  We are working on it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of WP plugin conflicts.

Disable all plugins, add postie, then bring the others back one at a time until you find the one that fights with postie.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

LOL,  That's not doable today for sure.  Maybe someone will chime in with something about how to make that work.  Postie does seem like it might be the best solution but I am unable to install without error.

Postie seemed a good recommendation but I am reading about it.  The forum link didn't work for me and development has been slow.  Two (2) development predecessors prior to the current project lead have moved on and are no longer associated with this effort.

My developer made a recommendation some time ago (actually several) but we never kept track.

This shows which features are new in HTML5.  Maybe DOCTYPE! has some possibilities.  Not sure http://www.w3schools.com/html5/html5_reference.asp

This is just a limitation with posting by email with WordPress and with the WordPress developer community in general.

ok, I may just have to see if someone else chimes in here.  I'll accept by days end.

In your opinion, What's the best WYSIWYG Editor?

For what?

Just the back end of Wordpress in general.

What does this have to do with posting by email?

I'm thinking that might be causing a conflict with the install.  Probably wrong about that.

Shouldn't.  The base visual editor for wordpress is TinyMCE and well-coded plugins don't even need to deal with it.  The email-to-post thing bypasses the visual editor during processing altogether...
