Backup Exec 12.5

MY exchange backups used to run daily job rate @ 472MB Min/ now it's running @ 95MB per Min. We did not make any change to the network;

Do you guys have any idea why this may be happening?

the Backup Software is Backup Exec 12.5 and the Antivirus is Symantec Endpoint 11.0.6

Not all my backups have been running slow only my exchange backup and the backup was running fast until last thursday

At what point do the backups run and do the times conflict with exchange maintenance? This is usually the reason however database integrity can cause performance issues. You would need to take the database offline and test it with isinteg.

the jobs run half hours apart from each other

Yes then as said above you can run Isinteg.
Isinteg -s servername -fix -test alltests.

I believe that the backup part is working normal and the verify part is running at 98mb speed? You can try to insert a new tape and check the issue. All daily, wekly, monthly backups are facing this issue? Try perform a quick erase and associate them to Scratch media and see whether still you are facing this issue. What's the tape age? It's worth to insert a cleaning media and perform a clean process of the drive and check the issue.

your backup server is attached to a TB drive; we don't use tapes and the jobs are running; attached is a snapshot to better explain View of previous jobsexchange-server2.png

Hi
Thanks for the reply.

This seems to be the network issue. The backup speed for a remote disk is limited by the speed of the physical connection. The rate at which a remote servers hard disk are able to be backed up depends on the make/model of the network cards., the mode/frame type configuration for the adapter, the connectivity equipment hubs,switches,routers, etc.. and windows. Local disk drives on the backup exec server usually be backed up at a higher rate of speed than backing up remote servers across a netwok. Also try to configure archive bit instead of modified time for your backup.

i have about 10 jobs total and they all run at faster speed to the same device that holds all my backup jobs; the backup device is a 15TB device that is attached through a SAS cable and is sitting right next to the server; all the firmware is updated.

Thanks For Your Help "radhakrishnan2007"
