orcle_diagnostiics_pack
Is the orcle diagnostics and tuning pack a good tool to have with 11g database?
is it installed with 11g Enterprise normally.
I am wondering if i should request a license to that to adminsiter a small database.
i think it s about 5 K. Is there any alternative options?

According to one I have, it says ou should diable access to any management packs that you have not licensed using ENterprise maanger.
set CONTROL_MAANGMENT_PACK_ACC ESSS = NONE to disable diagnostics pack and tuning pack.
Does this mean they are installed by default.

my mistake, I was thinking they had them disabled by default now (after much customer complaint) and you had to enable them.
I guess I had that backwards -
but it makes sense though, in general, everything in oracle is always available and you're expected to pay for it if you use it.

it could be. the book is a 2009 copy and we are in 2011. so they might have changed things.

true but I stated 'I don't think'.
Statspack was starting to be phased out in 10g with all the new advisors. If they changed anything it wasn't enough to make that book worthless.
No one will be writing an 11g statspack book. No market for it.

Diagnostics is probably overkill for a small database. From your previous questions the DB is around 30G.
I would probably go with statspack and a couple of custom scripts to look at what you deem the most important.
