Streaming video

Hi,

I would like to stream videos to the outside world from my home LAN without using a specific client (just the built in Mediaplayer). I have a Synology NAS which has a media-server, DLNA-compatible.

Now I now Windows Mediaserver can stream, but I kind of hoped not to be obliged to set this up.
In other words: how can I be sure my videos are streaming from my website (also on the NAS) instead of just playing ...?

Note: I would like to be able to just send a link http://.../video..., nothing more.

Thanks,
J.

you can use winamp (shoutcast) or vlc to stream video or you can go full out and setup Internet Information Services (IIS) to stream the video.. it depends upon your requirements.

I want to stream from my NAS, not from any other program.

what you can do is install iis (it is part of windows) then point the directory to the NAS directory as in this sample video

I don't want to install any other software, that's the point of my question.

A solution, but no added value for me.

That comment severely limited any possible solutions
