BlackBerry Gal Lookup issue

Hello,

We are using BES express on Windows 2003 server with Exchange 2003 as well and only have 12 smartphones.  Mostly Bold 9700 and 1 Bold 9900.

The issue is with the Bold 9900 device only.

If I am typing an email on the smartphone and sending mail to a user on my domain  For example I type a last name, select lookup.  The GAL does not return the Display name set on the exchange server for this user, it does not return the first and last name but it returns the full AD object name.

Example:  /O=My Domain/OU=First Administrative Group/CN=Recipients/CN=User name

Same applies when receiving mail.

This only happens with the Bold 9900 device on all my other devices sending /receiving works fine.  I can see the Display Name set in exchange or the first last name.

I have performed my tests sending and receiving to the same user on both the 9900 device and a 9700 device.  This phenomenom takes place only on the 9900 device.

Help!

What version number of BES express are you running?  Have you installed all the latest management packs?

I would recommend making sure the server is fully update to date, as the problem is with a new handset, it could be down to incompatibility with the server.  Check here and download the version for your server

https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=7B66B4FD401A271A1C7224027CE111BC

Note:  You will need to install the service pack before the maintenance packs, but you can jump from 5.0.0 to 5.0.3, make sure you install the "BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express v5.0.3 File name: BESX_Express_5.0.3.exe" before the maintenance packs.

Also, it is essential you are logged into the server as the BESAdmin account when applying updates

ASKER

Hello Matt,

The server is at 5.02.29.  I'm in the process of downloading the service pack that will upgrade to 5.0.3.  Will keep you posted with the results.

Thank you
Hello,

I have upgraded my BES to Version: 5.0.3.41 with all the available patches from the above page applied.  The results are the same.     As a test, I have wiped the 9900, removed the user from the BES server.... Added the user back into the BES and assigned the 9900 to it...  same results.  This is what I see on the 9900 in the TO:,CC: or BCC: fields when I send or receive email on my domain  /O=My Domain/OU=First Administrative Group/CN=Recipients/CN=User name.

In outlook or in a browser the TO:,CC: and BCC: fields are formatted properly  (EX: FIRSTNAME LASTNAME).

I will contact RIM support in the morning. Any oher recommendations from the guris are welcomed.

Thank you
Hello,

I am still waiting to hear from RIM support on a possible solution.

Thank you
