if yuo compare IE and FF i will vote FF for its fastness
Go to File --> Import --> Microsoft Internet Explorer -->and check bookmarks.
When you open firefox, press bookmarks and you can see "From Internet Explorer" folder.
otherwise go to organize bookmarks in bookmarks and copy the contents of that folder into the main file..

25112--The procedure is different for different versions of Firefox.  For FF 7 (and higher) you click Bookmarks|Show all Bookmarks and then Import and Backup|Import Data from another Browser.
Can this be automated?  I am not able to offer a script.  If you have to do this on many PC's, I guess there would be a method to Sync changes once setup.

Unfortunately, the methods described by the others are not automated.

I discovered a software recently that allows me to share my favorites/bookmarks among IE, FF and Chrome. (I think it supports others too). It is called Xmarks.

You can download it at
djon2003--Thanks for the info on xmarks.  It seems to be a Sync utility as I hoped would exist in my post http:#a37047799
No problem ! A pleasure to share good discoveries.
