Trouble Allowing Program to Update through Sonicwall NSA 3500

I have a program that has to do an auto-update.  I have some of the files timing out, and I'm pretty sure the firewall is what's causing it.  I need to know the steps to allow these updates through.  I have the sites and port numbers I need, and I configured the services, address objects, and nat policies that I thought I needed, but still no luck.

First bypass the sonicwall.. Confirm that the problem is with that only. Than t start with you can do DMZ to your this computer to check if port settings/forwarding /firewall is the culprit.

Once confirmed -- just backup the sonicwall settings just in case required -- reset factory defaults and configure the require settings - will work.

Forgive my ignorance, what is DMZ?

In computer security, a DMZ, or De Militarized Zone, is a physical or logical subnetwork that contains and exposes an organization's external services to a larger untrusted network, usually the Internet.

Simply put, it means you will forward all ports/everything to this computer (DMZ IP computer) meaning the sonicwall acts transparently and all data passes thru.
