let's say you have a 16GB memory stick with your camera and you take lot of video and you fill it up..

what practical strategies are encouraged to maintain those and keep the memory stick ready for the next round of pics/videos?

*do you always dump the 16GB videos into HDD? (the HDD will get filled up soon, not?)
*Do you always upload into DVDs one at a time (4.3GB at a time), so you can clear the mem sticks..
*any other options?

    Accepted Solution

    NEVER trust memory/disk/???

    Backup backups of your backups.

Every trip/session/get-together/??? I take ALL pics/video off my camera and copy to my computer HD.  I then IMMEDIATELY back up to CD/DVD.

Then I remove from the camera.  Frees up space on the camera and now I have the data in two places.

Once a week ( I know this is WAY to long), I back up my HD to an external USB HD (cheap today).

Now I have them in 3 places.

You might look into an online backup like Carbonite or Mozy.  Now it is online secure and in a 4th place.
