Configuring access to users from different domains into report server

I am run MIcrost Reporting services on sql server 2008. However, whenever under report manager of the report server whenever I try to add an user from a another domain to  give him permission to browse the report, I get an unknown user error.  see below. How do I solve this.

ID: rsUnknownUserName
Source: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ErrorStrings

This will not resolve the error, but as a work around,
-add a local domain group on the server
-give the local domain group access to reportserver
-add any users to the local domain group.

I second twol. Apart from the steps he suggested, you need to assign the domain group in report manager security tab in site settings option instead of the single users.
