Classic ASP
MS Access

Hello, all.

I would like to create an auto-scrolling thumbnail loop of 3 rows high and a continuous loop through all the images.

I am not sure how to do it.

I am using Classic ASP as the server code to an MS Access db where the image paths will be stored.
I am guessing Javascript may be needed somewhere along the way.

Basically, I want it to be a "screensaver effect" where, when you go to the page, the thumbnails beginning scrolling across from right to left.  You can click on a thumbnail and the larger image opens in a lightbox effect.

Are there any applications out there that can do this?
3 rows high and continuous loop?  (Of course, providing I have enough images, which I will).

Any software suggestions?

Thanks,
Shane

There are a ton of sliders out there http://cssglobe.com/lab/easyslider1.7/03.html or http://flowplayer.org/tools/tabs/slideshow.html to name 2.

Most of these will be generated from a list of your database either through xml, an unordered list etc.

Your asp code may look something like below to display an unordered list of images.  Assume your database only contains image names.
<ul>
<%
dim BigPicFolder,ThumbPicFolder
BigPicFolder="/images/big/"
ThumbPicFolder="/images/thumb/"
if not rsPics.eof or not rsPics.bof then 'make sure there is something in the database
   do until rsPics.eof 'There is data so list all the images

        response.write("<li><a href=""&BigPicFolder&rsPics.image&"">"&rsPics.image&"</a></li>"

   rsPics.movenext ' move database to the next record
   Loop   ' if there is another record, loop back and start over

end if
%>
</ul>

what you end up with is

<ul>
<li><a href="/images/big/someimage1.jpg">/images/thumb/someimage1.jpg</a></li>
<li><a href="/images/big/someimage2.jpg">/images/thumb/someimage2.jpg</a></li>
<li><a href="/images/big/someimage3.jpg">/images/thumb/someimage3.jpg</a></li>
</ul>
