problem with BlackBerry 9700 maps

hello,

i have a problem with blackberry 9700, i don't have the blackberry maps icon for this application on my phone home menu, i did every thing to resolve this and bring it up but i failed, how to add the icon to access the blackberry maps?

In addition, i noticed that sometimes when i try to start my camera i get an error of Failed to start the camera. don't know why, should i down-grade it to the OS 5 ? bacause i actually have OS6

Hello
The Map is enabled only once you have a Data plan enabled as a service for blackberry.
Do you have the data plan enabled ?

Hi World05
for the first question, the integrated gps will work with any third party application but not from the BB.

for the second question, does you fried have BB data plan or an ordinary data plan? because the data enabled service should be of blackberry.

once the service is active you will see BB icon on the right corner off your phone. once you see the BB icon it will download the MAP application in your phone. once this is done you will be able to use your MAPS application.

I'm actually lost because google maps asks for data plan and no gps on my BB and most must have data plan any free solution that would work with wifi etc or offline

It only need a BB data plan to install and run internal GPS application. other then that you can install other application and use WIFI or any other data plan to use gps on your phone

Hi
good to know that you could install all the application you were looking for.
The application should be in the home screen with the name of navigation or maps when you press the BB button the left.

if not then it should be inside the application folder.

Regards
Burhan

I couldn't find it and also couldn't find it in the app folder, i have a question, why blackberry needs a 'blackberry data plan" rather than an ordinary data plan?? i used both, and the ordinary data plan couldn't help me to get my emails pushed and checked in realtime, i don't know if there is a solution for this, blackberry data plan costs alot of money than an ordinary data plan, is this the same for iPhone?? because if not i would go immediately and sell this blackberry and buy an iphone and have a peace of mind, what you think?

well blackberry require a saperate type of dataplan. it works under specific data plan only. and its configured with your telecom company.

Where as in iphone its not restricted and it will work as long as it has a network connect. whether it is wireless or normal data plan.

In black berry you can not also install any third party application where as in iphone you are free to download any thing you like.

now the decision is up to you. according to what you are suffering from i would suggest you to go for iphone or android phone. both are the same as long as data plan is concerned.

let me know what you decide.

Take care
