Windows Search in Windows Server 2008 Web Edition

Outlook 2010 on Windows Server 2008 Web complains it wants windows search installed, however all the Windows Search downloads seem to not work on the Web Edition. Is there a way to get this running?

Windows Search is a Role in server 2008 and R2, though i am not sure if it is available on Web Server 2008.
Open up server manager and expand roles, choose add a new role and see if Windows Search Services is listed. If it isn't there, the server won't likely let you install it

Side note... why have outlook installed on a web server?

The Server is used as a terminal server and is accessed by many people, it's a cheap server version os, and aside from the search everything has worked perfectly over the years.

The role isn't available in the Web Server, otherwise it'd have been an easy fix ;-)
Sorry Hax1, i don't know of anyway to bypass it (I have been doing some follow up searching.. but no luck). Windows Search is not designed for that version of Server.
You may be able to hack the registry to make the server appear like a full copy but that would introduce worlds of other problems down the road
Description of Windows Search 4.0 and the Multilingual User Interface Pack for Windows Search 4.0

The search engine in Windows Search 4.0 is a Microsoft Windows service that is also used by programs such as Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Microsoft Office OneNote 2007

But i dont see an "Web server" edition of W2k8 in this KB's APPLIES TO section.

Looks like an limitation with the W2k8 web-server edition
E_aravind  Thanks for summarizing what i had already said
