McAfee has reduce the performance of HPDV6

Dear Experts,

I have installed McAfee onto windows 7 32bit machine and this has effected the performance of my HP DV6 (i7 , 4GB RAM and good disk space) machine. Any suggestions?

Also after installing, i am unable to open the McAfee control center.

The only reason i have to go with McAfee Total Protection as this has been installed on Production servers, so i have to make sure that everything is clean on development machine as well....

Any suggestions.....

i'm afraid Mc Afee IS the cause :  sehttp://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2332734,00.aspe:

Unresponsive user interface.

Limited and porous firewall. Ineffective parental/privacy control. Difficult installation on malware-infested systems. Malware removal disabled connectivity.

sorry i can't give a solution...

the only thing i know that can help - is if it does a daily scan  - to turn it off, or schedule it in the NOT busy hours

here some comparison charts :  http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
here Mcafee is #10 : http://www.devduff.com/software/top-ten-antivirus-2012.php

pick your choice; but i saw many posts here listing McAfee, and Norton as resource hogs
bitdefender, Eset, Kaspersky all come up well - but there can be others
i run the free AVG, and AVAST on some pc's , and am happy with the performance

it looks it is coming out on top - or at least top 3

>>  so does installing an Anti Virus will effect on visual studio working  << not more than on other applications imo
