Configure Citrix Branch repeater for XenApp 6 ICA Environment

Posted on 2011-10-30
Last Modified: 2012-06-21
I have downloaded and installed the Citrix Branch Repeater VPX at our head office.
I have setup all the basic setting (IP address, added to domain etc).

I am not sure how to then make all of my ICA traffic at my branch office use the repeater.
Our environment consists of XenApp 6 Servers, Citrix Web interface and Secure Access Gateway.

Any help would be appreciated. There is not much in the way of documentation out there.

    Accepted Solution

The beauty of Branch Repeater and XenApp together is that there is nothing you must do in order to make it function.  XenApp automatically senses that Branch Repeater exists between the two end points.  If you want to disable it (not sure why anyone would want to do that), there are some manual steps involved.

If you want to modify how ICA virtual channel traffic is prioritized, that's many paragraphs worth of explanation.  Let me know if that's what you need.

I would like to test it locally first.
I have the VPX installed (basic install) and I have the Plugin installed on my PC.
Not sure what else I need to do to make it work.

    Assisted Solution

It's automagically working once the Repeater is sensed at both ends!

In your case, you're using the local plug-in, so that gets sensed.
