php/jquery architecture question

I have a couple of dropdown selects on the main screen, where users can define their search criteria and submit the search to the database. The result is a multipage table of data which I am showing under my selections. Now, is it possible to submit this form asynchronously and refresh only the table area when the result comes back ? Any examples ? Snippets ?

Yes, it's certainly possible!  I believe there is a jQuery Zone here at EE.  Click the Request Attention button and ask a Moderator to add your question to that Zone.

Yes you can do all that. What you need to do is use the Ajax function and then in te success (the hook that gets called when the result is received) you will then take those results and then use the html function to pipe the new table into the element on the page.
