How to study Blackbberry log file

hi experts,
In order to troubleshoot blackberry BES issue effectively, i know there should be look into the logs for BES. Appriciate if anyone who advice how to start learn BES log file techques?

Hi,

Your main log files of interest are:

ALRT- this should contain all error messages
MAGT - Messaging Agent - this talks to your messaging server
DISP - the dispatcher controls the messaging agents as well as compressing and encrypting messages
POL - Policy Service

All messages will have unique ids so you can track message flow to/from blackberry devices using these.

Can you further explain ROUT. and any documentations regarding logs excepted for by experiment it. Thanks.

Hi,

ROUT is the log file for the BlackBerry Router service - this will show packets being sent out and received by the BES - the Dispatcher does most of the work.

You will also see SYNC - that's the Synchronisation service which does contacts and wireless backups etc,
