I have a sql server 2005 in remote branch office which works on windows authentication only. Remote branch  is under dc  "abc". I have dc  "def" in my ho. both are win2003 std edn domain controllers. Now to access my sql 2005 in the remote branch, i came to know that first i have to establish trust relation ship between ho and branch domains.   Both are not connected thro wan but having broad band internet connectivity. Now the only way to have this trust  is to first establish vpn connectivity between ho and branch office. Both are having cyberoam firewalls.

Can somebody explain step by step procedure to get this work done

    Accepted Solution

First of all, you  need to be sure that those ports are opened on your firewall to allow forest trust creation

after that, you need to resolve DNS queries by creating conditional forwarders for domains in DNS server

then, you will be able to configure trust between forests
