I have a 557 Gig Datastore , and 160 gigs free to create another datastore. One of my vm’s (fileshare server) in the existing datastore has lest than 50Gig left.
I wanted to know could I create another datastore with the remaining free space and some how allocated it in the vm that is running out of space?

You could but its messy.

You would have to create a new virtual disk, in the new datastore, and extend across the virtual disks using Windows disk management.

Much simplier to :- Increase the space of the existing datastore, and then Inrease the size of the virtual machine disk using VMware Converter or GParted Live CDROM.

you could create an extent to add to the existing datastore then you could have more space to be able to extend the drive on your filesever.

or

you could create another datastore and create a drive to present to that server but you would not be able to extend the existing drive that's running out of space you would have to create another one
