Reducing/Decreasing the MV hard disk size in Vsphere 4.1 environment

I would like to reduce the VM Hard disk capacity as i P2V the Physical disks as retain the disk capcaity wtih out changing/customizing. I did this because P2V is failing with the changing disk sizes.
Now i want to reduce the size as i dont need same size disks on the VM plat form.
I have been looking at the articles which are already posted here, but nothing suits to my scenario. I tried doing V2V options, but its not working with VM powered on and off either.
I will try the mean while if you have got any better options to reducte the MV hard disk..please let me know.

I have got the info to extend the VM hard disk sizes but not reduce the VM Hard disk sizes.

There is no longer a supported method of reducing the size of a virtual hard disk, other than V2V using VMware Converter.

You could however, using Clonezilla, Acronis, or Symantec Ghost, or Drive Snapshot to DISK CLONE the existing disk to a new disk of the correct size, by booting the VM from a CDROM with the clone software.

Could you explain a bit more about doing V2V option, so far i have instlalled the vcenter plug in my vcenter and then choosing the import vm by right clicking on the host/Cluster/Resource pool. by doing this, it says turn the VM off and ON, i did tried both ways. But let me try again tomorrow and post more info on this.
