We are already using SBS 2011 and want to set up a two users to acces the QB program remotely. Is there a way in SBS to provide that via RWA or what would would be the best way to do it through RDP while keeping permissions to minn.

do these users have computers they use while in the office?   if so and QB is setup on those computers, then yes, they can use Remote Web Access to connect to their desktops and run QB remotely.   No it won't run through Sharepoint

The users accessing QB would be taking their machines witrh them and here's what we know we can / cant do when remoting.

    - VPN: but that is choppy at at best, depending on the bandwith of the location the user is at
    - RDP: but we need to set a user group and permissions so that the rest of the server is locked down tight. We are hoping to get some guidnace in that area
    - Sharepoint: It can be done in sharepoint ..sort of...but not effectivley.
    - RWA: ?

    Accepted Solution

The cheapest and most effective solution is to add one or two "static" workstations added to the domain, setup for each user to be able to logon.

    VPN:  As you say...terrible performance
RDP: The SBS Server cannot be setup for in application mode for RDP, only in remote administration mode.
Sharepoint:  No, it won't work...Sharepoint is a essentially a document storage and collaberation tool.  It can do calendars and some other items, but it's not going to work for using QB

RWA is the best solution but they need workstations to connect to

Thanks.....RWA it is - were going to buy a generic machine for the remote QB purposes only.

    Thanks again.
