windows 7 and Brother HL-5140 printer

Hi Experts,

My Brother HL-5140  printer used to work well with my machine.
I moved to new place and hooked up again, but the printer doesn't response if I try to print something.

* I see the printer icon from the printers and faxes.
* the printer by itself seems fine.
* windows 7 installed the driver for printer successfully.

What else did I miss?

thanks in advance

How is connected? Via USB? Check that it's connected in the same USB otherwise delete printer and drivers, and do fresh install of printer.
if you install it with a parallel cable - the printer must be installed and ON before starting the install
if it is via USB - you have to install the software WITHOUT the printer connected - only connect when asked for
if it's usb - and wrongly installed - first uninstall completely, then reinstall properly
If it is an "HL-5140n" and not just an "HL-5140" and you are connect via LAN you may have to change the Printer's IP so it has a valid IP for the subnet range you have moved to now.
the printer may have a fixed IP but your new network has a different IP range - try changing to DHCP.

I installed it with a parallel cable and the printer was ON before starting the install.
Still is not working...

My printer is not connected via LAN.
