ssms for sql 2008

i have just installed vs2010 and sql server 2008  was installed by default.

i want to use sql server management studio but how do install this on top of sql 2008?
there is in configuration tools folder a sql installation center  file

yes you can download and install it Management Studio Express but if you have registered version of SQL Server 2008 then you can find management studio in that CD on above mentioed location.

ssms is a gui based tool to connect to the management studio, sodown load the ssms from the below link

and install on the server

The same install file appears after downloading from links above.
I chose
installation -> NEW sql server stand alone....

i cant install features on existing sql server install as i get an error

Hi,
If you have setup of sql server then install the following for management studio

For x86
SQL-Server-2008\x86\Setup\sql_ssms.msi

For x64
SQL-Server-2008\x64\Setup\sql_ssms.msi

I have installed vs2010 and vs2008. i am required to install vs2008 sp1 which i cant as i get some error.

this is complicated!

which is again the file i just downloaded. kind of going in circles here

no i cant !

i cant install management studio because vs2008 doesnt have sp1 and i cant install this because vs2010 is installed it appears
