I need an application to create a RAMDISK on a WIN 2003 64bit server. I want to put a MySQL database on it for performance reasons.

a "save everything to disk on shutdown and load from disk on boot" option would be nice.

You're better off going to an SSD solution..

why am i better off going for an SSD solution that a RAMDISK ? i can see why SSD > HDD , but why should SSD beat RAM ?

Non volatile in case of a system crash and prices are dropping like a rock.

128 gb are in the $160 price range and if you are running a Sandy Bridge chip set,Intel has a utility that lets you adjust cache using the SSD.

SpeedDisk does not offer a trial version,  so i can't do performance tests.

I assume there will be no overall system crashes(so only daily backups will be made). Performance is the main issue here. I don't want a compromise. I want the best there is performance-wise.

15 day trial, 32 and 64 bit version, it has option to create image file and shutdown and it is loaded on power on.
