SBS 2003 Domain - merge with another domain/network - subdomain?

Acquired another company and want to merge the networks to allow:

1. Keep their current domain and users - make into a subdomain?
2. Make SBS 2003 domain - primary domain
3.  Allow users to share resources based on security/active directory

Maindomain on sbs 2003 with 75 users
subdomain on windows 2008 with 15 users

Most accounting software will be hooked to maindomain
Want to share files across domains

They are setup now as different subnets with a router to allow access to the accounting software, but the users/permissions for file sharing requires us to merge these networks.

Also, in the long run - this subdomain may move to another location and be a branch office.

I was afraid of the subdomain thing in SBS 2003

We are segmenting off a bunch of field/email only people to the cloud email so that will free up a lot of licenses on the SBS.

The new subdomain/company may move out of our building so they want to keep everything intact.

I guess I'll  just keep them separate - switch the users that need to be switched, create VPN accounts and start migrating shared folders to the cloud also.
