Clock configuration on a Cisco switch

If you are in the Mountain Time Zone then the first line seems correct to me.

The second line PDT is Pacific Daylight Time. Is that just a name or is it associated with -8 UTC?

Will the following configuration cause problems?

clock timezone MST -7
clock summer-time PDT recurring

We are also connecting to an NTP server to synchronize the time.

The switch is new so the IOS is sure to know the current start and stop dates for daylight savings times.

The string after "summer-time" is just a string.  It can be anything you want.

For example:

clock summer-time spaceball recurring

That was my understanding as well but isn't it the norm to use MDT?

That's what I would call it if I were in the Mountain Time Zone.

But people do weird things.
