Are there differences in the way folders are shared in 2003 than 2008R2?
I am having problems with folders. Some are giving everyone access, some are not giving any access, and some are changing to read only when they owners have full access. I would like to know a way to fix this.

You need to disable the Advanced sharing in Windows Server 2008 to ged the same experiance as 2003. This new feature, the same as in Vista and Win 7, is a real headache: it sets NTFS permissions in the same time as Sharing permissions.

To do that: open Folder Options, View and uncheck Use Sharing Wizard

I agree, the "sharing wizard" has caused me several headaches and I always disable it now.
